When I first spoke with John and Ellen, we all connected because of our shared appreciation for the outdoors and journalistic photography. For their wedding location, John and Ellen chose The Overlook at Geer Tree Farm. The backdrop for their autumn wedding includes rolling hills of foliage and the “down-home” feeling and sense of community you feel working with a family owned farm. My grampa had a small house on a Christmas tree farm when I was young and I have fond memories of running through the trees and feeling like a “tomboy-princess” in my imaginary forest. So excited to work at another Christmas tree farm to photograph their wedding in the journalistic style they appreciate and enjoy.
Rustic outdoor weddings are my cup of tea for sure! Photographing weddings in natural settings makes this country mouse turned city mouse feel right at home. There’s something magical about the smell and color of the pine trees, dining outside among the stars, enjoying local eats and treats, good music, and a cozy bonfire! The three of us met this past November in New Haven for their fall engagement session amongst the warm colors of the Audobon district. These two love birds are fun and affectionate and I can’t wait to see how everything comes together at The Overlook in October.
